PAT Testing & Electrical Services

What the Law says

The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) and British Standard Regulations require that all appliances need to comply with Portable Appliance Inspections and Tests (PAT.)

A Portable Appliance is any electrical appliance that is plugged into a mains supply and either uses, stores, or transmits electricity. Our Portable Appliance Tester's operate a pre-set automatic sequence and if an appliance fails the sequence is brought to a halt and the reason recorded.

Records are essential if a proper and organised system of testing is to be established and maintained. Records not only provide evidence in the event of prosecution, but more practically they enable the equipment to be closely monitored and highlight potential faults.

In addition to our PAT testing service, Shieldyourself also provides electrical services -testing, inspections and installations - for fixed appliances. Including:

We can carry out the testing of all the fixed wiring and appliances within your premises, in the form of a Periodic Inspection Report, required for commercial properties every five years.

When tests are complete:
All appliances will be labelled appropriately, showing Identification No, PASS/FAIL status, Test and Expiry dates with Test Engineers signature. All appliance test information is downloaded to a PC based software system and can be stored and accessed by the Trinity website.

Multiple site businesses can access and track their PAT tests and Electrical Services on line via Trinity. Trinity is a unique Online Facilities Manager, that will not only monitor and control all your Policy, Audit and Training information it will sort valuable information such as your PAT test and electrical check.
